Outside the Perimeter

“If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.” ~ C. S. Lewis

The problem with hanging out in the church and only with churchy people is that we can delude ourselves into thinking that there is not, in fact, a lonely, dying, broken world out there starving for the feast that we have. This is a world that does not need us to tell them about Jesus’ love. It is a world that needs us to be Jesus’ love. I am sometimes sickened by how comfortable I have become. The need for hope is outside of our carefully guarded perimeters.
